Prelims Politics for first-year Oxford students is taught through lectures, provided by the Department of Politics and International Relations; three to four tutorials per term; and classes in Michaelmas and Trinity terms.
The curriculum incorporates quantitative aspects of political science, and is primarily a comparative and methodological paper. It focuses on the creation and maintenance of states, democracy, revolutions and political institutions and the forces that change them over time.
